“Furusato newspaper delivery volunteer” has been set up with the idea of providing evacuees in Takashima city with a chance to follow their local newspapers at home. These local papers cover detailed information on the recovery situation in Tohoku, which is not available to those living in Kansai. Funded by the Red Feather Community Chest, Takashima City Council of Social Welfare will order sets of local papers from Fukushima and Miyagi prefectures to meet the requests of the interested households. These papers will be delivered by volunteer workers in the city. To avoid the evacuees thinking evacuees are putting a burden on the volunteers, volunteers keep a certain distance in associating with the them, while gradually building ties between Takashima city and the disaster-stricken areas.
